
RODRIQUES
Sephardic family that issaid to have emigrated with the Gradis family- from Palestine at
the time of Bar Kochba insurrection (125 C.E.) and settled first in Portugal and later in
Spain. Many Jews with the name Rodriquez were martyred by the Spanish Inquisition in the
17th and 18th cent. JE mentions numerous people in Spain and Portugal, Italy, Amsterdam,
Hamburg, France, from the 15th cent. on.
JE article on "Coat of Arms" has a Rodriquez family crest. Related to;
Salvador, Pereire, Foa, Nunes and Brudo.
